The Jean Monnet Module The Ukrainian Crisis: Challenge for European integration develops and improve teaching in European integration studies at the Catholic University in Ruzomberok.
The first objective of the module is to promote European integration as an important object of study among students of political science programme as well as students from other study programmes from the areas of social sciences and humanities as well. The main task in this respect is to better inform all these students about the importance of learning about EU issues, both for the advancement of their professional careers as well as their personal lives.
The second objective of the module is to address the main political, social and value-based challenges the current developments in Ukraine put up for the EU. The module aspires to contribute to better pedagogic and academic coverage of new challenges in connection to recent developments in the field of European integration. This implies giving more emphasis on teaching new topics and focusing research activities of the project team and students participating in these courses on the contemporary matters in European political integration.
The third objective is to identify implications and consequences of the Ukrainian crisis on European integration. The module provides students with a conceptual framework for analysis, understanding and evaluation how this crisis impacted the EU and it discusses the significant consequences for the EU and the future development of the European integration process.
